One of my guilty pleasures is chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Whenever our family would go to Hawaii, we would literally bring back boxes of the stuff – and enjoy them for weeks after we got home.
But the problem was, each tiny piece of chocolate was 50-80 calories (depending on the brand) — and it was so addicting you couldn’t stop at just one!
I had never thought a healthier version was possible until I came across this recipe on Dr. Oz’s website.
Made with just 5 ingredients, these truffles have zero added sugar but are still amazingly sweet and decadent! They’re also double the size of their more sinful cousin, but only ~70 calories a piece.
Oh, and they literally take 10 minutes to make.
The Ingredients
- 1/4 cup organic medjool dates, pitted and chopped (comes to about 4 dates)
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup whole macadamia nuts
- 2 tbsp macadamia nut butter (make your own by grinding up about 12-15 macadamia nuts in a food processor until smooth!)
- Dash of sea salt
The Directions
Step 1: Add all of the ingredients into a food processor. Blend on high until the ingredients form a smooth dough.
Step 2: Divide the dough into 15 equal parts (about 1 Tbsp each, maybe a little more). Roll with your hands into balls. Chill in the fridge for 1 hour (to set) before serving.
That’s it! Each of these truffles is so satisfying, you can totally stop after having just one. Which makes it the perfect guilt-free dessert!
