Chinese Minister Seeks Normal India Ties, Delhi Says Ease Border Tension First

Posted on the 26 March 2022 by Geetikamalik

Ndia said the bond with China could not be normal until their troops retreated with each other on the disputed border, but Beijing recorded a tone that made peace during their foreign minister’s meeting in New Delhi on Friday.

The two countries had deployed thousands of troops at the high altitude border because the hand-to-hand fights killed 20 Indian soldiers and four Chinese soldiers in the Ladakh Northern region in June 2020. Talks between senior military officers had made a little progress.

I was very honest in my discussion with Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs, especially in conveying our national sentiment, “Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said news after a three-hour meeting with Wang Yi.

Friction and tension arising from the spread of China since April 2020 cannot be reconciled with a normal relationship between the two neighbors.”

In a statement, Wang said China and India had to work together to promote peace and stability throughout the world.

Both parties must … put the difference in the issue of limit in the right position in bilateral relations, and comply with the correct development direction of bilateral relations,” he said.

China does not pursue what is called” Unipolar Asia “and respects the traditional role of India in this region. The whole world will pay attention when China and India work by hand.”

Jaisankar, the former Ambassador to Beijing, said that on China’s request that India did not announce Wang’s journey before his arrival in the capital on Thursday.

Wang met with an Indian national security advisor, Ajit Doval, who also pressed him to de-escalation on the border.

Not immediately clear whether India offers to pull back his troops if China does it.

In a statement on Saturday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said Wang called on the transition of border problems from an emergency response to normal management as soon as possible.

Both agreed to accelerate the resolution of the remaining problems, manage the situation correctly in the field and avoid misunderstandings and calculation errors, he added.

Wang and Jaishankar also discussed the approach of their nation to handle Russian invasion to Ukraine.

We both agreed on the importance of direct ceasefire, and returned to diplomacy,” Jaishankar said.

India and China each consider Russia a friend and has rejected Western calls because of condemnation of Russian invasion to Ukraine, called Russia “special military operations”.

Wang, who visited Pakistan and Afghanistan earlier this week, arranged to fly to Nepal Himalaya and on Friday during a quail tour in South Asia, where China tried to strengthen its influence.

Before his arrival, Wang took a rebuke from India because of comments in Pakistan in the disputed Kashmir, a majority region of Muslims each rule in part but claimed fully, the problem where China generally supports the nearby allies, Pakistan.
