Beijing: China still faces the risk of Covid-19 coming back as 10 provincial-level regions have reported locally transmitted corona virus cases in the past two weeks. A top health official on Monday warned that three new Covid-19 cases were reported on Sunday. All three Chinese citizens returned from abroad.
The National Health Commission (NHC) said that apart from this, 13 new asymptomatic cases have been reported from two out-of-country corona infection cases as well. Asymptomatic cases include those who test positive for Covid-19, but do not develop any symptoms such as fever, cough, or sore throat. However, they can spread the disease to others.
The NHC said that as of Sunday, there are reports of 962 asymptomatic cases, which are still under medical surveillance. Along with this, infection has also been found in 98 foreign-born citizens.
NHC spokesman Mr Feng said that 10 provincial-level areas have reported new locally transmitted cases or asymptomatic cases in the past 14 days, indicating the risk of re-emergence of infection and even The risks of epidemic outbreaks still exist.
However, many offices, businesses and tourist destinations were reopened in Beijing. Public places such as some theaters and arcades have been closed for epidemic prevention and control.
According to China’s official figures, the number of people who died of corona infection in the country is 4,633.
As of Sunday, the total number of confirmed cases of the epidemic in the Chinese mainland has reached 82,180, with 481 still being treated. Let us tell you that 3.5 million people have been infected with this virus worldwide and 2.5 lakh people have died.
