China states that the support of the International Monetary Fund and other international institutions is essential for Sri Lanka’s efforts to get rid of the debt it is currently facing and achieve sustainable development.
The Chinese Embassy in Colombo said this in a statement today.
The announcement further states that as a friendly neighbor of Sri Lanka and a leading shareholder of the International Monetary Fund, China always encourages the International Monetary Fund and other financial institutions to help Sri Lanka.
It is further stated in the relevant announcement that it is hoped that Sri Lanka will actively work with China with a similar attitude and that a sustainable solution will be implemented soon.
