China’s Foreign Trade Reaches Record High

The total value of China’s foreign trade reached a record high of 43.85 trillion yuan in 2024, marking a 5% year-on-year growth, according to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China.

China’s exports amounted to 25.45 trillion-yuan last year, reflecting a 7.1% year-on-year increase, while imports totaled 18.39 trillion yuan, marking a 2.3 percent rise compared to the previous year.

In 2024, China’s foreign trade made remarkable progress in aggregate, increment and quality. In terms of the aggregate, the total volume of China’s foreign trade reached 43.85 trillion yuan, achieving a robust year-on-year increase of over 2 trillion yuan.

In terms of the increment, China’s foreign trade growed by 2.1 trillion yuan during 2024, equivalent to the annual foreign trade volume of a medium-sized country. In terms of the quality, the structure of import and export products has been continuously optimized and upgraded.

High-tech products have shown strong growth, exports of Chinese brands have reached record highs, and new business models such as cross-border e-commerce are thriving.
