Almost 20 years after the release of the first installment, Netflix announces the start of construction of a sequel! Chicken Run 2 will go into production in 2021.
Netflix had teased five big announcements for the week of June 22. And among them, the putting into production of Chicken Run 2, a continuation of the film from the studios Aardman released in 2000. If we believe the tweet above, it will be produced in 2021 (for a likely online release in 2022? ). The American giant has given no other info on the feature film - plot, director etc - but it's a safe bet that the feature film will be made in stop-motion and that it will once again be a question of escape (with a nice parody to the key).
As a reminder, Chicken Run 2 was announced in April 2018. At the time, StudioCanal and Pathé were to co-produce it, Sam Fell (The Strange Power of Norman) was in production, and Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell (already at work on the first opus) took care of the script.
