Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Whether you’re single and ready to mingle or in a committed relationship, you deserve some love.

It can be hard to find the right place to go on Valentine’s Day in a city with so many romantic restaurants, events, and attractions. Luckily, this guide is here to help.

Parties/Bar Crawls

  • Pre-Valentine’s Day Singles Party – Join other singles in their 20s, 30s, and 40s on Saturday, February 11 at BIN 36 in the West Loop. Tickets are $25 and have been sold out every year.
  • Screw Cupid Pub Crawl – Have a little fun at a pub crawl for singles or couples that includes a food buffet, domestic drafts, Cupid punch, and trolley transportation to all five bars. It takes place Saturday, February 11 from 8pm to 11pm.

  • Geja’s Cafe – Enjoy this classy choice located at 340 West Armitage Avenue which will be elegantly decorated, featuring rose sparkling wines and champagnes as well as live flamenco and classical guitarists. This celebration will last from Friday, February 10 through Monday February 20.
  • Balena – Italian-inspired cuisine located at 1633 North Halsted will be sure to fill you and your partner up.
  • North Pond – Located in Lincoln Park, this restaurant sits next to a pond that overlooks the beautiful Chicago skyline. The special Valentine’s Day five-course menu costs $125 per person plus $60 with wine pairings.
  • Mindy’s Hot Chocolate – This restaurant’s hot chocolate will warm you and your hunny right up, enough to forget about the cold Chicago weather. It is located at 1747 North Damen Avenue.
  • GT Prime – A steakhouse in River North, 707 North Wells Street, GT Prime will be offering its entire a la carte menu for a romantic dinner on Valentine’s Day.
  • Leña Brava – One of Rick Bayless’ restaurants, located at 900 West Randolph Street in the West Loop neighborhood, is offering a four-course menu for $65 per person, excluding drinks, tip, and tax.
  • Momotaro – For something different, try Japanese food at Momotaro, 820 West Lake Street, which will feature its a la carte menu and a couple of sweet treats.
  • Monteverde – This restaurant, 1020 West Madison Street, features Italian cuisine and will have their a la carte menu with celebratory specials on V-Day.
  • Knife Restaurant – A rather new place that opened in October has gained popularity and offers a special tasting menu for the holiday. It’s located at 4343 North Lincoln Avenue.
  • Parachute – Located in Avondale/Irving Park at 3500 North Elston, this Korean restaurant offers certain a la carte options as well as a special shareable tasting menu.
  • Maple & Ash – Dine at this upscale steakhouse on the Gold Coast at 8 West Maple Street for an extra-special Valentine’s Day.
  • Siena Tavern – This River North Italian gem located at 51 West Kinzie Street will offer their entire a la carte menu in addition to sweet specials.
  • Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Northbrook – For a nice V-Day dinner option in the suburbs, try Ruth’s Chris in Northbrook, located at 933 Skokie Blvd.

Ice Skating for Two

  • Ice Skating at Lincoln Park Zoo – Hold hands with your significant other as you glide along the ice rink at the Lincoln Park Zoo.
  • Maggie Daley Park – For a little more of a skating challenge, visit the ribbon at Maggie Daley Park.
  • McCormick Tribune Ice Rink – For gorgeous downtown view of Michigan Avenue, you may want to visit Millennium Park, which remains open through March 5, weather permitting.

  • Odyssey Valentine’s Day Cruise – Whether you are looking for a Saturday dinner, Sunday brunch, or dinner on V-Day itself, the Odyssey cruises from Navy Pier have you covered.
  • Spirit Cruise – This cruise line offers a dinner cruise on Saturday, February 11 and a dinner cruise on the actual holiday, Tuesday, February 14.

Artsy Things to Do

  • Valentine’s Day Poetry and Spoken Word – This 21 and up event features an open mic from 6:30pm onward on Friday, February 10 at 1932 South Halsted in the Chicago Art District.
  • Valentine’s Day Singles Mingle – With food, drinks, games, and networking, you are sure to have a fun time at this event located in an art gallery at 2202 South Halsted.
  • Candy Making Class – Food is an art. Try your hand at making candy, including caramels, hand-rolled chocolate truffles, and marshmallows, on Sunday, February 12 at Read It & Eat, 2142 North Halsted Street.
