Chicago: A Bird’s Eye View VIII – Summer Finale

By Urbanmatter Chicago @UMatterChicago

Getting sick of the cold weather yet?

Don’t get us wrong, there’s nothing wrong with fall. In fact, there’s quite a bit to do in Chicago during the lovely autumn season. But there aren’t too many things that can go toe to toe with summertime in the city. Let’s reminisce, shall we?

Soaring Badger Productions, a drone video production company, is back with their newest rendition of their ongoing film series, Chicago: A Bird’s Eye View VIII – Summer Finale.

The best part about the video: it showcases the authentic Chicago summer, not just bright sunny days and happy times. There are foggy days, cloudy days, and rainy days mixed in with all of the beautiful skyline shots we’ve come to love.

Of course — dazzling visuals, kayakers slicing through the river at Wolf Point, sparkling sunsets, alluring firework displays at U.S. Cellular Field & Navy Pier, and even a slightly backed up Lake Shore Drive made an appearance too.

Here’s Soaring Badger’s description from their Vimeo account:

“Part 8 of Chicago in my series on life from above. Shot during the late summer season around Chicago over the course of 3 months from July through September 2015. As we enter the official autumn season it’s a good time to look back at the beauty of Chicago in the summer. Drift through a fog blanketed city and over the sky blue water of Lake Michigan. See the firework displays of Navy Pier and US Cellular Field as never before. Enjoy this season finale of Chicago in the summer.”

Looking out from our towering skyscrapers is one thing, but there are glimpses of the city that only a drone could manage. Soaring Badger Productions pulls them off flawlessly.

Here are all of the major attractions/areas seen in the video, as listed by Soaring Badger:

West Town
United Center
Navy Pier
CTA trains
Lake Michigan
Lincoln Park
Jackson Park
Lake Shore Drive
Chicago River
Wrigley Building
