“Funnily enough we met at a wedding and here we are coming full circle at our own. We were on holiday in the Bahamas and on the day after Christmas he went down on one knee on a beach in Paradise. It was the last thing I was expecting, so much so my response was “are you serious?” I couldn’t believe I could be so blessed and lucky – it was one of the sweetest moments with just the two of us and bursting with raw emotion”, the bride shared with us.

“I always imagined myself in a mermaid style dress with a low back. I had found so many pictures and took it to a dressmaker to make it for me. She insisted that I tried on dresses before she made anything to see what looks right on my body. I was 100% sure I knew what I wanted and know what looks right on me, so quite despondently I went to try on various dresses. I saw a big puffy one with a high neck line and I decided to try it on for fun, as I would never actually wear something like that. Lo and behold, I ended up ordering it and I l loved it. It was regal, classy and timeless”.

“The ceremony took place in Sounio. I visited many venues around Athens, as well as Crete. Sounio was the last venue I visited just before boarding my flight back to South Africa and I was instantly obsessed. There’s something magical about that little corner of the world. The temple of Poseidon, the big blue Mediterranean sea and a sense of historical mystical magic, what more could I ask for! The more I discovered about the hotel, the more I loved it. The food was out of this world, service was impeccable and the co-ordinators extremely accommodating. I would pick this venue again”.

“I love boho chic style, so that was definitely present throughout the wedding. Lanterns, lots of white and splashes of gold. My bridesmaids were in a soft coral color – the orange tones you see at sunset and on their tanned skins it couldn’t have looked more perfect!”

“I wanted it to feel like a fairytale. Greece in Summer has that beautiful warm wind, so I just wanted everything flowy and sparkly to dazzle and blow in the wind and through sunset. Our centerpieces we had made were white trees dripping in streams of white flowers and crystals. I love the island style of Greece, so we incorporated as many lanterns candles etc as possible”.

“I found inspiration and ideas while planning our wedding everywhere! I followed as many wedding profiles on Instagram as possible, taking ideas from there and mixing them with my personal style. Most things you see on Instagram often don’t come close to fitting in with your budget, so they were used more for inspiration and less for copying”.

“As cheesy as it may sound, it was really just the most magical day. I was annoyingly happy – really one of those brides that did not stop smiling and crying and laughing from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed. Walking down the aisle was definitely overwhelming and our first dance was really just cute. The whole night was my one big favorite moment!”

Bride’s advice: “Chill. The time goes by so quickly and it wont come around again. Also, do exactly what you want to do as it is your day. There is no need to be a Bridezilla – your parents are also ecstatic and so are his, so be fair to all parties”.
