Checks VV Open Edition NFTs takes the market by storm

Checks is the most recent meta to overtake the NFT industry.

The idea for Checks came from a March 2021 1-of-1 NFT called “NFTs, explained” by Butcher’s creative agency Visualize Value. The artwork is as simple as it gets visually: 80 Twitter checkmarks of varying colors arranged in a grid.

What started out as a one-time piece of social commentary art quickly turned into a thought-provoking exercise about social status and what motivates people in the online world. Checks’ open edition was made into a total of 16,031 pieces of art, which have been sold on OpenSea for just under 2,000 ETH. Butcher was blown away by how well the project did, so he decided to push the limits of what NFTs can do and how people think of them in general.

On January 3rd, more than 16,000 people purchased Jack Butcher’s Checks VV Open Edition at the price of $8 each. The project has reached a 2 ETH floor, traded over 10,230 ETH equivalent to approximately $16.3M in volume, and given rise to a large number of similar projects.

According to the data provided by Cryptoslam, it has experienced increases in sales and has had a 363% increase in volume over the previous day.

Beeple, Seedphrase, Budweiser, and a great many other companies, among others, have developed their own derivative works. Humanity Check was founded by Jack Butcher to fund earthquake relief in Turkey and Syria.

How the Checks VV collection will go forward

Butcher is happy that Checks has led to a number of other projects. He states that he is pleased to provide notice to artists and community members who are innovative with their artwork. Butcher, along with his technical team of Web3 developers jalil.eth and traf, devoted a page to derivative projects on the official Checks VV website.
