In 1966, Milton Obote declared himself president under an interim constitution. That made him the nation’s second president, and throughout his administration, he implemented a lot of changes. In 1971, General Idi Amin Dada seized power in Uganda. He was overthrown in 1979 by a coalition of Ugandan and Tanzanian troops after eight years in office during which he flouted the Constitution.
After Amin left the government, Yusuf Kironde Lule, a representative of the Independent Party, assumed control. Lule governed from April 13th, 1979, until June 20th, 1979, during that time. He served in office for 68 fewer days than his predecessor, who was also removed from office. Following him was Godfrey Lukongwa Binaisa of the Uganda People’s Congress.
On June 20, 1979, Binaisa took his oath of office and served until May 12, 1980. After that, a ruler for just ten days came into power. The six-day term of Paul Muwanga’s presidency in 1980 ran from May 12 to May 22. Milton Obote took over as president after Muwanga resigned, and he did so until 1985.
