Chatpati Chaat for the Quaker Oats “Bring Your Tastiest Bowl” Challenge

By Indian Food Freak @IFoodFreak

2016-05-21 07.03.27Being Delhiites we can shamelessly boast of loving chaat. The spicy intermingling of flavours are a gleeful experience for our palate. Being the kind of people who lose track of their priorities the moment a panipuri wala comes in sight, it is clear we need no excuse for indulgence in the delish savory snacks.

But the forever haunting dilemma of waist vs. taste makes us think twice about our chaat-lovin’ decision these days. So we thought and thought for there had to be a way around this. A way to legitimise our love for spicy and tangy flavours as food for health.

Finally, owing to our inherent ability of quick fix thinking as an Indian, we proudly present a solution! We made chaat out of oats! The sheer brilliance of the idea would bring tears of joy in eyes of many mothers who are no longer convinced by the delusive maggi jingle, ‘Taste Bhi, Health Bhi’ and are busy looking for a solution to their kids’ unending demand for all things yum.

Then, we, the children of creativity, solemnly swore to make ourselves an evening snack full of the all the things we love and yet be healthy in character. We made ourselves a tasteful chicken porridge out of the oats and topped it with nachos and chips. It is super-easy to make as it involves knowledge of only a few cooking basics.

Not stopping there, because we love variety, we experimented further to make ourselves some veggie oats kebabs, full of vegetables and shallow fried them using minimal amount of oil (we like them better baked in the oven though).

Now that we have broken the curse of delicious food being unhealthy, we grab ourselves a bowl or two and indulge in some palate pleasing. No shame, no blame!

Have a look at our recipes for Quaker Oats #BringYourTastiestBowl challenge and make yourselves a healthy snack too!
