Charlaine Harris, the woman behind the Southern Vampire Mystery series upon which True Blood is based has made a very interesting list! The Hollywood Reporter has named Ms. Harris one of the 25 most powerful authors in Hollywood. Coming in at #14, Harris is in the company of such authors as JK Rowling, Dennis Lehane and Tom Clancy. She has sold 20 million books worldwide. Of her heroines, Harris says:
“They’re not all tough gals or bitches. They’re a mixture of good and bad, strength and weakness. I try to write people who aren’t black and white…Sookie’s a blue-collar heroine, and that resonates with people who are having economic troubles.”
