The inspiration behind True Blood, Charlaine Harris, at her homeThe inspiration behind HBO’s hit series True Blood, Charlaine Harris, is headed down the graphic novel road. Earlier this year Harris announced that she was going to delve into the gaming world, and now she’s pushing ahead with a graphic novel series entitled “Cemetery Girl.”

Harris says that after she finishes the last two Sookie books, she will begin work on the graphic novel series with Christopher Golden (who’s penned prose adventures of characters like Hellboy and Buffy the Vampire Slayer). The series “centers on a woman who finds herself living in a cemetery with no memory of her past but a clear sense of a mysterious threat hanging over her.” Harris had mentioned wanting to do a novel called “Cemetery Girl” back in 2009, but she put it on hold when she found out that the plot she envisioned was actually similar to another novel by author Neil Gaiman.

This isn’t the first time Harris’ characters have found their way into comics, as IDW publishes comics based on True Blood, and an adaptation of her “Grave Sight” novels has been published by Dynamite.

No artist is yet on board, but Harris did reveal that the publishing company she’s been with for years, Penguin, is going into graphic novels, so it sounds like she’ll be sticking with them to put out “Cemetery Girl.”
