Chaka Khan is starting 2019 off with a dose of happiness.
The “I’m Every Woman” singer will kick off the New Year as the Grand Marshall for the Rose Parade. She is also scheduled to open the parade with two performances, “Hello Happiness” from her upcoming album; and “I Feel For You,” according to Billboard.
The new song is not a political statement — unless you want it to be. “I think we need a shot of just not taking the little things so seriously,” Khan said of the “Happiness” lyrics. “Little things are important. It’s about the little things, but just flow.”
Chaka credits the Holy Spirit with inspiring her to do another album.
“It’s the Holy Spirit, she recently shared. That’s all I can say. It must be god. I mean I’m looking at my watch if I’m home for like a week, I’m like ‘don’t I have somewhere to be?’ It’s not over for me yet.”
