A handsome looking Cessna 195 seen at the Museum of Aeronautical Sciences in Tokyo. This one was operated by the Asahi Shimbun, one of the oldest newspapers in Asia. Named “Asakaze”(Morning Breeze), this aircraft was used for interviews and communication purposes from 1952-1966. 1952 was the year that newspaper aviation resumed after the war. The Cessna 190/195 family were Cessna’s only postwar radial-engined aircraft and was also the first Cessna airplane to be completely constructed of aluminum and featuring a cantilever wing. The aircraft was expensive to purchase and operate for private use and Cessna marketed them as mainly as a business aircraft under the name “Businessliner”.  Introduced in 1947, a total of 1180 190s and 195s were built.
