Notice in 12 January 2013 edition of Rodong Sinmun announcing the formation ad membership of the central election committee for the 9 March 2014 election of deputies to the 13th Supreme People’s Assembly
DPRK state media reported on 12 January (Saturday) that the Central Election Committee was formed for the election of deputies (delegates) to the 13th Supreme People’s Assembly [SPA]. According to KCNA, the election committee will consist of a Chairman, Yang Hyong Sop (Vice President of the SPA Presidium), Vice Chairman, Kim P’yo’ng-hae (Korean Workers’ Party Secretary and Director of Cadres Affairs), Secretary-General, Hong Son Ok (Secretary-General of the SPA Presidium), and Members, Gen. Choe Pu Il (Minister of People’s Security), Kim Yong Dae (Chairman of the Central Committee of the Social Democratic Party), Kim Yong Ho, Jon Yong Nam (Chairman of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Youth League), Hyon Sang Ju (Chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea), Ri Myong Gil (Chairman of the Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea), Ro Song Sil (Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Korean Democratic Women’s Union), Lt. Gen. Ryom Chol Song (Deputy Director of the Korean People’s Army General Political Department), Kim Wan Su (SPA Vice Chairman and Director of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea) and Yun Jong Ho (Vice Chairman of the Council for the Reunification of Tangun’s Nation). The formation of the committee was publicized four days after it was announced that the election of the 13th SPA was scheduled on 9 March 2014. According to KCNA, the scheduling of the election and formation of the election committee were part of a decision by the SPA Presidium issued on 7 January.
