Feast your eyes on HRC this St Andrew's day!
It's the feast day of Saint Andrew on Thursday 30th November - Scotland's national day - and one way to celebrate is to visit Hard Rock Cafe in Glasgow and munch on some delicious Scottish-inspired burgers, available for one day only.
A trio of sliders will be on the menu tomorrow, bringing some of the nation's favourite flavours together, well, on the same plate at least! The three burgers are:
Haggis
Venison
Scottish Breakfast
On the side will be neeps and tatties crisps and an Irn-Bru dip!
in case you don't know the Glasgow restaurant also sells two local cocktails and I had the Tonic Boom, which is Buckfast tonic wine, Beefeater gin, Elderflower syrup topped with lemonade! This is available all year round, along with another cocktail made using Mad Dog 20/20!
The burgers are small (sliders) but with this being Hard Rock Cafe, they do not scrimp on the portions and the three burgers combined amount to a hefty meal. Add the haggis and neep crisps and you have a feast on your hands!
The breakfast burger
Is stacked with crisp bacon, Lorne square sausage, tattie scone, two egg yolks and tomato. When I was at Hard rock Cafe earlier this year to try their World Burger Tour there was a bit of debate about eggs on burgers. It seems to be quite controversial - I personally love a fried egg on a burger but other customers weren't so keen and so on this breakfast burger the white has been removed leaving only two yolks, though I'm not sure that everyone agrees that tomato and rocket should be on a breakfast burger!
The haggis burger
A meaty chargrilled burger topped with haggis. This should really be on the menu for Burn's night too!
The Venison burger
Came with the surprise inclusion of moist black pudding and a sweet cranberry sauce. This is a new and tasty combo to me!
The neeps and tatties
The little crisps were great and very moreish. Even if you're not a fan of turnip, or don't think you are, don't let that put you off, they taste pretty much like potato when fried, and then there's the Irn Bru mayo - I couldn't quite put my finger on what the flavour was at the time but let's just say that it works!
