THE Cultural Center of the Philippines closes its 3rd season of the Met Opera in HD at Greenbelt 3 Cinema 3 on May 10 at 6:30 p.m. with the Met Opera production of Giuseppe Verdi's Macbeth.
Anna Netrebko sings her first North American performance of the charismatic villainess of Verdi's Macbeth. The opera features a starry cast that also includes Željko Lučić as Macbeth, Joseph Calleja as Macduff, and René Pape as Banquo. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi conducts.
The Cultural Center of the Philippines partners with the Metropolitan Opera of New York to bring its exemplary productions to Filipino audiences through its Met Opera in HD program. The groundbreaking program delivers world class performances to offsite venues all over the world using high-definition video technology and Dolby sound recreating the experience of watching an opera production at the Met "live". The CCP has brought this season the productions La Donna Del Lago (Gioachino Rossini), Tosca (Giacomo Puccini), Iolanta/Bluebeard's Castle (Peter Tchaikovsky/ Bela Bartok), Carmen (Georges Bizet) and The Merry Widow (Franz Lehár). An added feature of each program are backstage tours and interviews with performers and artistic staff conducted during the intermission.
