CBS is redeveloping one of their failed pilots from the last cycle. The McCarthys, produced by Will Gluck, almost got a timeslot this last time around, and received good feedback all around. However, the pilot was single-camera, which CBS doesn’t have any in their lineup (though they did order The Crazy Ones). They are redeveloping the sitcom as a multi-camera show for consideration in the next cycle. The show was based around a gay son stuck in a sports loving family, who only care that he doesn’t spend enough time with them. Perhaps if the show was produced by Chuck Lorre…
Jack McGee, Jacki Weaver, and Joey McIntyre starred in the original version. There hasn’t been any talk about the cast for the new show at this point.
