Catwoman: 20th Anniversary- Chalk It Up To Cat Scratch Fever

Quick Take: We all have those movies that we know aren’t good, but there’s something entertaining about them. There is an entire YouTube channel devoted to these “So Bad It’s Good” types, Good Bad Flicks, which dives into these movies in depth on YouTube. As this disaster turned 20, I decided to revisit it one more time. It even had audio description. My reaction to that is that whoever wrote it, is obsessed with Benjamin Bratt’s abs. Everytime he’s shirtless, the narration has an erotic reaction to his upper torso. Every. Single. Time. If you asked me what the worst film of 2004 was, I wouldn’t have said Catwoman. Yes, it is not a good movie, but it falls like Madame Webb, where there are a few moments of that campy hopefulness that Catwoman could become the next Showgirls. But, ultimately, it still is just not a good movie. It is fun to watch, but in a year where Demi Moore explored aging in a very frightening new way, even Sharon Stone’s villain seems muted. Most of what made this film so silly were the visual styles to begin with, especially Halle berry’s costume, which seems designed by PornHub. Berry was a good sport, accepting her Razzie award. She knew the film was terrible. It is, but I saw worse in 2004, and worse in 2024. There are little glimmers of “So Bad It’s Good”, but it just falls a little short for me. Maybe a few more years on this, and it’ll age better in that respect. For more, check out the video. And, if you want to appreciate Benjamins abs, check out the audio description.
