Catalonia is still pushing for independence from Spain and they will be glad to learn that David Cameron has agreed that Scotland can hold a referendum in 2014 for Scotland’s independence. To be honest, Englishmen and women couldn’t care less if Scotland became independent or not as they are quite independent already. I would like to call it the “Braveheart” syndrome as the Scots have this enormous chip on their shoulder and want independence at all costs. I would like Scotland to become independent too but there is one catch: Become independent without any help from England, please. Don’t ask for handouts when things get tough, and they will. Scotland hasn’t done too badly with handouts from London up til now, has it?
Anyway, back to Catalonia. Catalonia looks to Scotland as some sort of yardstick and they want to split a country, Spain, that is in turmoil. It has a president who is not much better than the last one and he is dilly dallying on whether to accept a bailout which is inevitable.
