Casual Shoe Trends to Try This Summer

By Attireclub @attireclub

Shoes like the Oliver Cabell Low 1, Nike Air Max 85, and Axel Arigato may be selling out at retail and online stores, but you may be surprised to learn that the humble white sneaker is one of the hottest trends of the upcoming sunny season. As is expected in the summer, it's all about coolness and comfort. However, if you're into chunkier vintage looks, know that you will also find your match in the list of this season's must-haves.

White sneakers: Low or high-cut? Casual Shoe Trends to Try this Summer

Nothing beats the simplicity of pristine white in the summer, so make sure you get your hands on at least one plain white sneaker. Both ankle-bearing low-cut and Velcro-bearing high-cut styles are in, so you have a wide array of shoes to choose from. Top choices to check out include Nike Air Force 1 '07, Reebok NPC II, Veja V-10 Leather White Black, and Cariuma Off-White Canvas. The latter is a particularly good choice if you're into sustainable footwear, as they are made in Brazil with responsibly sourced materials, following ethical principles. Canvas is a good choice if you like keeping your sneakers sparkling clean. To machine wash this type of footwear, remove laces first, pop them into a mesh bag, and use a gentle cycle to bring its color back to pure white.

Simple slip-ons

Nothing beats going from the beach to a casual afternoon soirée in the summer, and your footwear should be adaptable to each occasion and easy to put on or take off. Slip-ons look great with shorts, rolled-up pants, and slim-fit pants alike. They can also be paired with stretchy pants with drawstrings, that make going for a stroll a breeze. Check out the latest slip-ons by Vans, Mansion Margiela, and Cariuma.

Chunky hiking boots

Some parts of the world still boast snowy mountain peaks (we're thinking Alpine countries in particular) so if you are planning on traveling to these zones this summer, get your hands on a pair of vintage hiking boots. Go for round-heeled, retro-style styles with D-ring lace fastenings and rubber soles. For a really cool pair that will look just as great in the city as at a café in a ski resort, check out Toast's Fracap Hiker Boots, which are molded, stitched, and finished by hand.

Urban chic sandals

If you love taking care of your toes and keeping your feet in pristine conditions with regular pedicures, show off the result of your efforts by embracing the urban sandal trend. Go for wide-strapped footwear in bright, happy colors that reflect the vibrancy of the season. Styles to look into for inspiration include designs by Merrell, Vans, and Off-White.

It's an exciting time for lovers of sunny weather, but also an excellent opportunity to embrace cool, comfy styles. From white sneakers right through to bold sandals, there are many styles that enable you to show off your flair. If you're into vintage styles, meanwhile, embrace the hiking boot trend, knowing this unique shoe can be worn throughout the year.
