Caring for Your Relaxed Hair

By Naturallychicxoxo

Wow ! Seems like it’s been decades since I’ve posted anything about hair .

Well I have News For my natural hair followers… I went back to my relaxed hair . I just couldn’t deal with my hair frizzing up anymore !!!! So it was an awesome experience but after a year of being natural my relaxed hair is calling my name .

SO…….How about teaching my lovely ladies how to care for that processed hair .

I would like to start off with saying that there is a lot of relaxed vs. natural hair right now.Since I’ve tried both styles And I would never say one is better then the other. SOme of us learn to embrace their gorgeous curls, some of us have decided to stick with the chemicals. There is Knowledge to be shared about both . I love the the Natural and Relaxed hair community.

Tip number 1~ Back away from the heat !

It’s ok to use heat every so often but everyday use is a No No. If you use heat everyday try using heat once a week .Heat is one of the main reasons we have trouble retaining length .

Tip number 2 ~ Stop Over processing!

Wait until you have enough growth to keep processing your hair. If you have to wait eight weeks to see new growth then thats what you have to do !

Tip number 3~ Washing your hair !

Say no to sulfates .Your already putting enough chemicals on your hair without the dryness that happens when we use products with sulfates. Stay away and use a sulfate free shampoo. As relaxed chicas we need to keep moisture in our hair.

If you want to wash your hair more then once a week then I suggest co washing . Which simply means washing your hair with only conditioner .

Tip number 4 ~ Deep condition !

Deep condition ,Deep condition ! All i’m going to say is coconut oil and olive oil is your best friends.

Tip number 5 ~ Show your scalp some love !

Pure coconut,  olive oils are pure miracle workers for our dry strands. A few days of these will turn your hair AROUND. You have to maintain a healthy scalp, no matter what kind of hair you have.

If you have any questions for me ask away !

be sure to check back for my blog about why I went back to my relaxer with pics.

Well I hope I’ve helped someone out there !

xoxo,

Ashley Salinas
