Care Home in Morecambe Awarded Gold Standard

By Gareth Jones @tutorcare

A care home in Morecambe has received the prestigious Gold Standards Framework (GSF), an industry accreditation for excellence in providing people with end of life care.

The Mayfair Residential Home, a family run facility capable of housing 45 residents, was given the award by the National GSF Centre after it proved that it is delivering the very highest standards of end of life and palliative care to its residents. All of the 40 staff members at the Mayfair had undergone an intensive care training programme lasting 18 months, in order to meet the required standards.

Commenting on the award, the proud managing director of the home, Licia Pickvance, said:

“This accreditation is fantastic news for our staff, but above all for our residents and their families, because it means we now have the expertise and knowledge to ensure that our residents can spend the rest of their lives at the Mayfair, rather than having to be transferred to a hospital to receive end-of-life care.”

The Mayfair, which first opened in 1984, is run by Ms Pickvance along with her brother Tony Prada and care manager Sue Exton.
