Caramel Apple Cider Cocktail

By Courtneysims @courtneynora

Is it just me, or is everyone extra hyped for fall this year? Maybe it’s because we are relishing in the changing seasons more than ever this year since our daily lives are so monotonous due to Covid. Either way, I’m on that fall bandwagon and I’m not afraid to say it. I have already, twice now, put pumpkins in my shopping cart and then put them back. I think I will wait until October for pumpkins, but you know what it is truly time for? Apple cider. I’ll do you one better, a caramel apple cider cocktail!

This caramel apple cider cocktail is as sweet and delicious as it sounds. I use a caramel flavored coffee syrup for the caramel flavor because it’s quick and easy. You could omit the caramel and just drink a spiked caramel cider. I’ve absolutely done this before and absolutely will again ;) The key to this recipe is using spiced rum. Sailor Jerry is my favorite spiced rum, but I also love Captain Morgan. The spiced rum adds to the cinnamon and caramel flavors you want in this cocktail.

Caramel Apple Cider Cocktail Recipe:

2 oz. Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum (or whatever spiced rum floats your boat)
4 oz. apple cider
1/4 teaspoon caramel coffee syrup
Cinnamon stick and apple wedges for garnish
Ice

Fill your 8-oz. glass up with ice. Pour the rum, cider, and syrup over the ice. Stir and top with apple slices and a cinnamon stick.

I recommend dunking the cinnamon stick into the drink and letting it sit for a bit! The flavor isn’t overpowering, but you get a great sniff of cinnamon before every sip.

You can also make this drink warm! Just heat up your apple cider in a microwave-safe mug until it’s steamy and hot. Stir in your caramel syrup and add a nice splash of rum. Top with your cinnamon stick and you’re good to go!

ps. Eat those drunken apple slices when your drink is gone. Basically that makes this drink healthy.
