Car Makes Noise When Turning
Does this happen to you when your car makes a noise when turning? There is a clicking noise underneath when the car turns.  The reason why the car makes noise when turning depends if your car is a front-wheel drive or a rear-wheel drive. The cause of clicking noise when turning rear-wheel drive is different when turning a front-wheel-drive but the clicking noise always comes from the front end since the noise occurs when turning, regardless if your car is a front-wheel drive or a rear-wheel drive.

Possible cause why a car makes noise when turning

1. For front-wheel drive – constant velocity joint or CV joint.
2. For rear-wheel-drive – one of the front end components.

If your car is a front-wheel drive and you encounter clicking noise when turning usually the noise comes from the front end and the most common reason for the noise is the problem on the constant velocity joint or the CV joint usually the CV joint is faulty. CV joint or Constant Velocity Joint is a flexible joint that allows a smooth application of the engine power into the front wheel of the car.
CV Joint has what you called the Inboard CV joint and the Outboard CV Joint, usually, between the two, the Outboard CV joint is the faulty based upon a mechanic experience, because if the outboard CV joint is worn or damaged then it can cause the clicking noise you heard especially when the car is turning.

Now, if your car is a rear-wheel-drive and there is a clicking noise when turning rear-wheel drive, the noise occurs mainly from the car front end. Since your car is a rear-wheel-drive the problem is not the CV joint, because the rear-wheel-drive does not have a CV joint. So it is important that you know if your car is a rear-wheel-drive or a front-wheel-drive to correctly diagnose the reason for clicking noise when turning your car.
For Rear Wheel Drive, as rear-wheel drive does not have a CV joint, this means that the problem is not on the CV Joints. The most common cause of this problem for the rear-wheel-drive has something to do with the front end components such as tie rod end, control arm, steering knuckle, ball joint, etc. One of these components might have been damaged. Another possibility is that the wheel bearing is also damaged which is the reason why the car makes noise when turning.

(2)If the rubber boot was torn the dirt goes inside and damaged the CV joint that resulted in a clicking sound you heard when turning.
(3)Replace the CV Joint to fix the problem.

If your car is a rear-wheel-drive
