November is upon us and that means that a new birthstone or two is on the horizon! We are always excited when a new month arrives because we get to check out a whole new slate of gemstones for the month. With only one month away from a new year, we welcome November's birthstones, citrine, and topaz!

NOVEMBER BIRTHSTONE: CITRINE

Citrine is the birthstone most closely associated with November. The golden-hued stone's name is a play on lemon in French. However, it is not just known for a sunny, lemony shade. You can find this birthstone in a variety of hues ranging from the sunny yellow we mentioned earlier to another citrus hue of orange-brown. The stone has gained popularity over the years. The stone has been famed since ancient times initially for its (non-scientific) ability to counteract snake venom and the much dreaded evil eye. It has moved away from its ancient capabilities to now represent success and prosperity. One thing we love about this birthstone is that although it represents success and prosperity, it will not break your wallet. Citrine is one of the most popular stones on the market and it's readily available which means that costs can be kept low. If you are in the market for an exceptional citrine, then look for stones that are both clear and radiant.

NOVEMBER BIRTHSTONE: TOPAZ

Topaz is also another vibrant November birthstone, but it is slightly different from citrine...or can look almost identical to it. Why you might ask? Because the stone comes in a rainbow color of hues from brown to white to pink to red to a sunny yellow (like citrine). There are many other colors though, so topaz is a wonderful chameleon stone for those looking to purchase a durable, yet beautiful gemstone. An interesting note about this stone is that its rarest color, blue is now its most common color. This is because humans learned how to enhance the stone's color...and they went wild with it. However, nature still beats nurture in this stone as it is rare to find a naturally blue topaz in the wild. A popular stone with the ancients because of its rumored ability to protect, heal, and break the chains of enchantment.

Citrine and topaz are wonderful gemstones for November. The stones' durabilities coupled with their ability to protect, heal, bring success, and encourage prosperity provides us all with some much needed positivity during these unprecedented times.
