Photographed at the Planes of Fame Airshow.  After delivery in 1944, this Catalina served in Iceland before its second life fighting forest fires in Canada as a water bomber.  It was then transported to South Africa where it sat until a five year restoration started in 2006 which led to its move to the United States.  More than 7,500 PBY’s were built in the USA and Canada during WWII. This example was built by Consolidated in Canada by Canadian Vickers in Montreal as a Canso A.
