It's something I hear a lot from folks: Why should I bother to add my name? Why should I sign a petition? What difference will it *really* make? Well, today you can be proud knowing that your voice has made a huge difference to MILLIONS of girls and women around the world. But don't just take my word for it...here's what PM Trudeau said: "Please know that your voice has been heard and that the Government of Canada is taking action." In fact, in just a few weeks, he's hosting leaders from around the world to make sure girls and women everywhere have the tools they need to fight AIDS, TB and malaria with the Global Fund.
While some heartless third rate "
celebrities" such as Katie Hopkins tend to diss online petitions/campaigns at every opportunity , the following email from One.org I received earlier today does show that online petitions/campaigns do work (maybe not all the times, but they do most of the times...) and adding our names/voices to them is definitely not a waste of time.
But, don't take my word for it.. read the email and see by yourself. This is incredible.
One of the world's biggest leaders - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau - just wrote you a letter.
On International Women's Day, we asked all of you - men and women, students and grandparents, actors and entrepreneurs - to tell the world's most powerful leaders that Poverty is Sexist.
And more than 200,000 ONE members around the world signed a letter recognising that sexism is global and that the fight against it should be, too.
Keep up the good fight and keep making your voices heard!
(And let's prove all the Katie Hopkins of the world wrong in the process...)

The Email
"On behalf of the Government of Canada, I am writing back to let you know that I wholeheartedly agree: Poverty is Sexist...I accept your challenge to lead. As a feminist, I know that women must be treated equally everywhere."
It's a big day. Let's share this incredible news.

You made this happen. And we couldn't be prouder to stand with you in this fight.
