Great things are happening in June at the Dallas Zoo. Pack up the family and plan to have family date night at Safari Nights presented by TXU Energy.
Every Saturday in June (and July), the Dallas Zoo will host a series of evening concerts. The concerts will feature live music, extended hours (until 9 p.m.) and a chance to mingle with some of the (animal) stars of the Zoo. Special events, from animal presentations to a SOAR, A Festival of Flight bird show, begin at 5 p.m. The music starts at 7 p.m.

The Dallas Marathon organization announced registration is now open for the Kickoff Run and Epic 80’s Party Presented by Miller Lite, a fun run scheduled for National Running Day on Wednesday, June 4.
The 4.4K fun run, celebrating the 44th running of the MetroPCS Dallas Marathon, will be held at Winfrey Point at White Rock Lake and will kick off registration season for the 2014 MetroPCS Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon, 5-Person Relay, SMU Cox Corporate Relay Challenge presented by Behringer and Cigna Mayor’s Race 5K Presented by Oncor. One Arts Plaza is pleased to host One by One, an InstaDFW exhibit featuring the best local and national mobile photographers. Ink Master’s Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo) and The Reverend Horton Heat host the second annual Elm Street Music & Tattoo Festival, June 11-15, in Deep Ellum. This five-day fête features over 50 bands including headliners Black Flag, Lucero, MXPX, Teenage Bottlerocket, Ishi, Brutal Juice, The Reverend and more, plus a convention of over 40 tattoo artists from around the world participating in a Friday the 13th Marathon.
Participating music venues include Trees, Three Links, Dada, and Wits End. The tattoo convention, to be held at Prophet Bar, will begin at 12 Midnight on Thursday, June 12, exclusively tatting only “13” designs for 24 hours.
