Can Asheville Have a Broomstick Pony Derby? Please, Pretty Please…

Posted on the 27 September 2012 by Citizenthymes @citizenthymes

About the Broomstick Pony Derby:

Welcome to the Broomstick Pony Derby–a season-long celebration of Orlando’s play-spirited, civic-minded, try-curious, tri-athlete, road racing and audacious-arts-appreciating community.

During the Broomstick Pony Derby, folks of all ages create and race handmade broomstick ponies, zebras, ostriches…you name it. Spectators will enjoy light-hearted races with whimsical outcomes. Where do the ponies come from? They will be made during our summer Broomstick Pony Workshops led by local artists, including Ibex Puppetry!

The festivities celebrate community and creativity and will raise funds, friends, and awareness for enhancing Urban ReThink’s operations and programming. Urban ReThink is part of the 501(c)(3) Urban Think! Foundation.

And a short fabricated history:
