4-year-old twin sisters have died side-by-side in a fireplace at a 'communal' dwelling close to Byron Bay.
Emergency companies arrived on the Goonengerry dwelling, 30km west of Byron Bay, about 4am on Sunday to seek out the twins each affected by smoke inhalation.
Each little ladies have been handled on the scene however couldn't be revived. A lady was handled on the scene for shock.
Their dwelling, which is known to be inside a bigger 'a number of occupancy' group, was engulfed in flames.
Police are investigating whether or not a candle was left burning inside the house in a single day.
Detectives will work with hearth investigators, who stay on the scene, to find out the precise reason for the blaze.
Horrified neighbours arrived on the dwelling afterward Sunday to drop bouquets of flowers to the household.
One lady fought again tears as she left flowers within the letter field.
A hand written notice was left on one of many bouquets studying: 'Mourning with you.'
