Description:On a late evening, not so long ago, I was looking out my studio window at the surrounding forest. It was a moon-bright evening, which changed the typical greenery of the pine trees into silver. There was enough moisture in the air that enhanced it even more. The moon reflecting off of some of the trees and yet it still revealed the deep dark recesses, spreading the uneven tonal value all around. I was just completing this painting and it needed a name. For some unknown reason By the Light of the Silvery Moon song popped into my head. So there you have it. A painting with blue gray and contrasting deep greys and indigo.
Like most artists, beyond the actual creation, we all love to name our works. I for one never think about a name until after the work is completed. And sometimes a piece of art may sit around the studio, for quite some time, begging to be named, wanting attention like a child seeking the spotlight.
