Lately there has been a lot of interest among smartphone brands in launching foldable phones. While Samsung or Motorola have been launching devices in this segment for several years, few leading brands have recently taken the wraps off their first foldable phones. Despite this, foldable smartphones are still considered a niche segment in the market and many consumers are still concerned about their overall durability. But a recent durability test might give those folks some reassurance. The test was conducted on Motorola’s latest Razr 40 Ultra smartphone and surprisingly it performed better than expected.
Moto Razr 40 Ultra’s durability test results are out
Popular tech YouTube channel JerryRigEverything has released a video of the Moto Razer 40 Ultra’s durability test. Here Motorola’s flagship foldable smartphone has to go through several tough tests, including scratch test, burn test and bend test. In the scratch test, the Moto Razor 40 Ultra’s primary screen started showing visual signs of scratches quite easily even at the second and third levels. However, the outer panel fared better, lasting until the seventh round.
In the burn test, the outer panel once again outperformed the primary flexible screen by lasting up to 20 seconds. Meanwhile, the inner screen lasted only 6 seconds. During the scratch test, the device’s power and volume buttons were scratched, but they still performed normally. To test the IP52 rating, the YouTuber covered the foldable phone with a lot of dust. But this did not affect the folding process of the device.
In the final phase of testing, the Moto Razr 40 Ultra was subjected to a bend test to test its durability. The flexible panel of the smartphone could not be broken and no problems were observed. But the outer panel glass is completely broken. Even after all these rigor tests, the device is found to be working normally
