In line with the recent fuel price reduction, the bus fares were reduced by 2.23 percent with effect from midnight yesterday, the National Transport Commission (NTC) said.
Accordingly, the minimum bus fare, which was Rs.40 until yesterday, has been reduced to Rs.38.The maximum normal bus fare is Rs.2,882. The fare reduction is also applicable to the semi luxury, luxury, super luxury and expressway buses, the NTC said.
The NTC also vowed that legal action would be taken against the buses for charging higher fares. Passengers were also asked to contact the hotline 1955 for any such complaints. Government on Sunday reduced the price of one liter of diesel by Rs.20.
