Buhari’s Aide Tells Nigerians What To Do As COZA’s Fatoyinbo ‘Leaves Pulpit’

Posted on the 01 July 2019 by Naijaparry

Lauretta Onochie , President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aide, has asked Nigerians to call on the police to invite the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA ), Biodun Fatoyinbo , over allegations of rape against him.

Onochie made the call hours before Fatoyinbo announced that he had taken a “leave of absence from the pulpit of the church.”

This was after Protesters had marched to the COZA headquarters in Abuja on Sunday, calling on the preacher to step aside over the allegations that Fatoyinbo raped Busola, wife of popular singer Timi Dakolo, when she was a teenager.
But the presidential spokesperson said calling on the police to investigate the matter was the right move rather than asking him to step down.

“What I don’t understand is why Nigerians are calling on the alleged rapist, Biodun Fatoyibo to step down as a Pastor.Pastors are above board & above suspicion. He was never a Pastor. What we should be doing, is calling on the @PoliceNG to invite him for questioning,” she tweeted on Sunday.

Busola, during an interview with YNaija, alleged that the clergyman raped her twice in Ilorin, Kwara state.

But the clergyman has since denied the allegation, saying that he has never raped anyone in his life.
