The Bugatti company was already well-known for its high-end wares before they entered the automotive sector. Rembrandt Bugatti became well-known as a talented sculptor in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and his brother Carlo Bugatti did the same for Art Nouveau furniture.
Ettore Bugatti’s father, Carlo, famously said, “The egg is nature’s most beautiful form.” Ettore went on to start the vehicle manufacturing firm.
The relationship between Bugatti and Asprey Studio in early 2022 was inspired by this proclamation, which has been passed down down the centuries. The Asprey Bugatti Egg Collection NFT initiative is another example of the two renowned firms fusing history and modernity.
A convoluted structure
With 111 physical eggs tied to Bitcoin NFTs, the Asprey Bugatti Egg Collection will be unveiled as both a concrete “objet” and a work of generative art. These eggs, like their similarly named luxury vehicle counterparts, will not come cheap.
According to today’s nft report from Ali Walker, chief design officer at Asprey Studio, the price range for eggs 1-100 will be $20,000 to $50,000. Eggs 100–111 of the Asprey Bugatti will set you back more over $200,000.
The high quality components utilized to make the NFTs are reflected in the product’s price. The Royale Edition of the Asprey Bugatti Egg Collection features eggs with carbon fiber shells that are painstakingly shaped to achieve the perfect egg form. As described by Walker, it is encased in a sterling silver diamond weave lattice and tapers gently to a curving base that suggests motion and calls to mind Asprey’s history in the furniture and jewelry industries.
A reproduction of one of Rembrandt Bugatti’s original sculptures of a “dancing elephant” is featured on the egg’s surface. Asprey Studio 3D scanned the Bugatti Type 41 Royale for the project, and it now sits proudly atop the hood. When opened, the case reveals a scene of Bugatti’s Molsheim home, the Château Saint Jean, with a sterling silver replica of his Type 41 Royale Esders parked in front.
However, you will have to wait in line if you want to see the Château Saint-Jean. The inside of the egg will not be photographed until it has been minted. Walker is credited for the artwork, and we know that Asprey’s strategic partner Metagood was responsible for the coding. According to Walker, the egg-shaped equation used in the sculpture is a new form of expression and art because it can be used as a non-fungible currency in Bitcoin. This equation bridges the gap between the NFT and the sculpture.
The most costly non-fungible token ever recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain will not be available for purchase in its physical form until a mint date and time are revealed (see the official website for updates). The egg is handmade, so expect a wait of up to a year for delivery. Between three and five months after the date of issuance, the NFT will be redeemable via smart contract.
In April of 2023, Asprey Studio Gallery will open its doors, and with it, the NFT collection.
