BSNL has brought special offers for crores of refugees at the Mahakumbh Mela organized in Uttar Pradesh. The company's digital services include free data, calling and SMS on special offers. A rumor of Mahakumbha getting lost in the fair has hopefully been heard by many. BSNL launched the service to stay connected with family and loved ones. The company plans to install 50 BTS across the fair premises.
Anyone can contribute to digital services at these centers. BSNL has divided this sponsorship into four categories. For those who sponsor, BSNL will send SMS notifications to all users connected through the sponsored Base Transceiver Station (BTS). The message will read, “Total usage will be sponsored by (your name) for free.”
Also in Category 1, free voice calls, data and SMS will be given to all customers connected under 1 BTS with a sponsorship amount of Rs.10,000 per day. Category II requires a fixed sponsorship of Rs 40,000. Whereas in Category 3 and 4, 30 and 50 BTSs are priced at Tk 90,000 and Tk 2,50,000 respectively.
Simply put, in telecommunication parlance, “BTS” stands for “Base Transceiver Station”. It facilitates wireless communication between mobile devices, such as phones, and cellular networks. Radio signals are transmitted and received within a specific area, known as a cell. Basically, it acts as a connector between your phone and the network.
