The crooner "Summer of '69" "backed down in a rant on social media on Tuesday who accused" bat eaters "of spreading the coronavirus after it was widely criticized for its nuances racist.
The drama started on Monday when Adams, 60, released a clip of himself on Instagram singing his single "Cuts Like a Knife" in 1983.
In the legend, he wrote how it was supposed to happen at the Royal Albert Hall in London that night, but because of "the consumption of bats, the sale of animals on the wet market, the virus making greedy b *** ards, the whole world is now waiting, not to mention the thousands of people who suffered or died from this virus. "
"My message to them other than" thank you very much "has become vegan," added Adams.
His comments sparked an immediate reaction online, with "Bryan Adams" on Twitter Tuesday.
"It looks like someone's views on race are blocked in the summer of 69," one person tweeted.
A tweet in which he made the same comments has since been deleted, and he has disabled comments on his Instagram post.
Adams, known for his songs "Heaven", "Summer of '69" and "Please Forgive Me", went to Instagram Tuesday to apologize for his rant.
In a clip of Adams singing "Into the Fire", he wrote in the caption, "My apologies to everyone who offended my posting yesterday. No apologies, I just wanted to have a rant about the horrible cruelty to animals in these humid - the markets being the possible source of the virus and favor veganism. I have love for everyone and I think of all those who face this pandemic in the world. "
Adams' remarks, which many saw as directed against the Chinese, come amid an increase in racist attacks against Asians and Asian Americans. A study published last month showed that there was an increase in derogatory terms for Chinese people used online.
CNN has contacted a representative from Adams and the Royal Albert Hall for comment, but has yet to receive a response. His residence at the Royal Albert Hall appears to have been postponed to April 2021.
