British Aerospace Harrier II GR.9

@ Nellis AFB, NV

March 2010

A fully-laden RAF Naval Strike Wing Harrier GR.9 taxies for takeoff during Red Flag 10-3 exercise at Nellis AFB.  The Naval Strike Wing operated the Harrier GR9 until the 2010 budget-driven retirement of the type. This aircraft went to Davis Monthan AFB for storage at AMARG. First flown in 1985, the Harrier II was derived from the McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II, with 143 produced. The Harrier II was eventually replaced by the Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II. Nikon D300 w/80-200mm.
