Bright Eyes have shared ‘Rainbow Overpass’, the second single to be taken from their forthcoming tenth studio album ‘Five Dice, All Threes’, which will be released by Dead Oceans on 20 September.
Featuring a cameo from Alex Orange Drink of The So So Glos, the song opens with a burst of ‘I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning’-era folksy guitar before the drums and amped-up guitars come in to increase the tempo as Conor Oberst declares ‘I’m not shutting down, I’m not shutting down, I’m shutting up so you won’t hear me when I say everything’s OK, I’ll see you around’. There’s a punk energy running through that wouldn’t be out of place on a Desaparecidos record.
Conor finishes the song by proudly declaring ‘I’ll see you around’ and you can hear the joy in his voice as he really lets tip on this humdinger.
