Went down to Soho yesterday where some of the shop windows were astoundingly bright.

A brilliant zoo of inflatable animals.

Even the shop fronts were bright.

The workers and the barricades gleamed

as did the artwork on the poles near Cooper Union.

Gosh!

When I was a child I was jealous of people who had gnomes in their gardens. I used to hang over their fences for hours admiring them. My parents, in many ways the kindest people in the world, for some reason did not share my enthusiasm. Hm....

Walked over to Union Square to buy calendulas and discovered that you could buy Jack in the Pulpits from an oddly clad vendor. However, you need a woods for the latter plant.

It wasn't quite so cold as the outfit above suggests.
