Mark Hudis has stepped down from his position as showrunner of True Blood according to an exclusive report from the Hollywood Reporter. Writer and producer Brian Buckner will be taking his place. Hudis was tapped as the person who would succeed Alan Ball last spring.
Hudis is leaving True Blood to focus on his overall network deal with HBO.
Brian Buckner has been with True Blood since the very beginning. The show returned to production just two months ago and in a recent interview with his alma mater Haverford Magazine, Hudis had said that it was impossible to fill Ball’s shoes but that this season, the show’s 6th would center more on life in Lousiana.
