Brian Buckner and Anna Paquin True Blood S7 After Party Kevin Winter GettyThe final season premiere day has arrived.  Executive producer Brian Buckner gave an interview to Entertainment Weekly ahead of the True Blood season 7 premiere and with only ten episodes left, he has promised that heads will be rolling and punches will no longer be pulled.

With hep-V vampires descending on Bon Temps, local law enforcement Jason (Ryan Kwanten) and Andy (Chris Bauer) will have their hands full trying to keep them at bay along with an anti-vampire vigilante group. And as we’ve seen in the trailers for the series, Bon Temps will be essentially left to fend for itself with no state or federal government support. This and other story lines that will be seeing this season is an effort toward using the cast as it exists now instead of bringing in an entirely new character to serve as the “big bad” as in seasons past:

“There are certain things I don’t believe we can top. So the writers and I decided from the get-go that we’re not going to take screen time away from our series regulars to build a new character who becomes the focus of the season…We know who the fan favorites are and we’re going to do our very best to weave everything in. As we say in the writers’ room, ‘Try to use the whole buffalo.’”
