Breakfast Review: Jayz Bar and Restaurant, 87 Kilmarnock Road, Glasgow

By Emma @glasgowfoodie

Jayz has been open for about a year and a half now but is perhaps better known to some people as the place where Bier Halle Stube used to be!

We popped in for breakfast – there’s a banner outside advertising 2 full breakfasts for £6 and this is exactly what we ordered (the regular price of 1 breakfast is £4.50 and this deal is Served from 10am – 2pm 7 days a week).

Jayz was fairly quiet when we arrived on a weekday lunchtime which allowed allowed us to pick our seat.

Jayz - full breakfast

Jayz – full breakfast

The food came out pretty quickly and each breakfast consisted of a lorne sausage, link sausage, 2 rashers of bacon, black pudding, fried egg, potato scone, mushrooms, tomato, baked beans and 2 slices of toast with Lockerbie butter (thumbs up!) and with two plates of this for £6 you cannot grumble, it was a good hearty feed and everything was nicely cooked and not overdone, although the egg yolk could’ve been a bit runnier.

Jayz - hazelnut latte

Jayz – hazelnut latte

Tea is PG tips, coffee from Lucaffe. Hazelnut latte £2.05 Good temperature and really pleasant warming drink.

Jayz - sticky toffee pudding

Jayz – sticky toffee pudding

Sticky toffee pudding £4.05 with butterscotch sauce and ice-cream. By sticky toffee pudding standards it wasn’t the stickiest, but it was moist enough and came with 2 scoops of ice-cream.

Excellent value breakfast deal. There’s WIFI. Toilets clean. Disabled one at the very back however there are a few steps to get to all the toilets. Music 80s and 90s.

Handy for transport, bus numbers 3 (First), 4 (Stagecoach) and 38 (both First and City Sprinter) stop a block away and Pollokshaws East train station is an extra 2 minute walk from the bus stop.
TL;DR
+ Excellent value breakfast
+ Friendly staff
+ Free WIFI

– steps to get to disabled toilet.

We ate as guests of Jayz but as always Fred gives his purr of honor.
