Marriages in India are known for their uniqueness and special customs. There are several rituals and customs followed for many days and lots of celebration takes place. Different types of marriages are seen in different regions and communities in India, but a strange case came into news recently. It was shocking and inspiring news, where a brave bride returned 5th class pass groom empty handed.
It is an incident of Ghuwara, a small town and a nagar panchayat in Madhya Pradesh state’s Chhatarpur district. The bride was told prior that the groom is a graduate, but at the time of FERE ceremony, she came to know that he has just passed 5th class. She denied marrying him immediately in the Mandap itself. The bride named Ramwati Prajapati, daughter of Halke Prajapati, from Ghuwara town of Madhya Pradesh was to marry Jugal, son of Munna Prajapati from Aamkhera, Ishanagar, Uttar Pradesh on 15th May 2015, Friday. She is a 19 years old, 10th pass girl and wanted to continue her education further. She was told that the groom is pursuing B. A. and will support her to continue her study further. But, the truth was not acceptable by bride and she denied marrying a man who is just 5th class pass.
The all incident started when the groom started to use abusive language while talking. Ramwati was not in a mood to entertain this behavior and she further investigated into the matter. Later she came to know about the educational qualification the groom had and denied immediately to marry. Her parents were in confusion about the decision, but rest of the family members including her sister, aunt, brothers took the side and groom. They also admitted that Jugal Prajapati is not a right guy to be married and supported Ramwati. It was a brave decision truly and made everyone appreciate the bride side. The groom side was in a great shock and reached to Police Station to file a complaint against. Police tried to make everything working, but the groom’s didn’t change her decision and the Baarat had to return empty handed.
It was a very brave and intelligent step taken by the bride and we should respect and support this. It should inspire many more girls, who want to study further and marry an educated person only. We appreciate her bravery and zeal to study.
