According to a recent report from People, Brad Pitt is reportedly deeply hurt by his daughter’s choice to remove his surname. Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, his daughter with Angelina Jolie, filed legal paperwork on her 18th birthday to officially drop ‘Pitt’ from her name. This decision marks a trend among Pitt and Jolie’s children, all of whom have chosen to shed their father’s last name. A source close to Pitt shared with People that the 60-year-old actor is aware of the situation and feeling quite upset about it. Shiloh, who recently turned 18, is the first among their six children to make such a formal change.
An earlier report indicated that Shiloh took personal initiative in this matter, hiring and paying for her own lawyer. Her decision appears to be connected to past issues involving alleged abuse and the violation of victims’ rights.
Notably, Pitt and the 49-year-old Jolie are currently embroiled in a contentious legal dispute over a 1,300-acre vineyard in France. Additionally, Pitt faces accusations of physical assault against Jolie, reportedly occurring in the presence of their children.
Shiloh has chosen to modify her name from Shiloh Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Jolie. A source close to Pitt shared his feelings on the matter:
“He’s aware and saddened that Shiloh dropped his last name. The joy he felt when she was born has never left him. He always wanted a daughter. The reminders that he’s lost his children, of course, are not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”
The source also noted that despite Pitt’s reported happiness with Ines de Ramon, whom he is said to be dating, the distance from his children remains a painful issue for him.
Another source told People, “He still loves all of his kids tremendously. This whole process has been very hard for the whole family.”
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt share six children, three of whom are adopted.
