Boy Azooga – ‘O Silly Me’

Boy Azooga have shared stand-alone release ‘O Silly Me’ ahead of a run of UK shows with the one and only Liam Gallagher. The release follows shows with Neil Young and last year’s critically acclaimed ‘1, 2 Kung Fu!’ album (Heavenly Records).

Described by Davey Newington of the band as ‘a song about worry: written when worried that might hopefully ease some worry for other worriers’, it’s a genteel track that opens in the Jose Gonzalez mode with acoustic strums as Davey looks back on ‘another long night overthinking everything’ and ponders how ‘no one wants to think about how the time is running out’.

He then goes on to offer up more elements of self-doubt as he talks about no longer being in control and how ‘I used to think invincible way back when’. The rest of the band offer up a subtle chamber pop-meets-folk sound as Davey goes on to discuss infinity and eventually feels at ease: ‘Guess I’ll just have to wait and see’.
