Box Office Predictions: Spidey Easy #1, But Not 100M?

Posted on the 01 May 2014 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

1) The Amazing Spider-Man 2- 90M Weekend, 90M Total

Also known as the 5th Spider-Man film, rebooting resets be damned. The first Andrew Garfield version of Spider-Man landed only 62M opening weekend, however in a much more crowded July field. This Spidey gets his kicks on the traditionally lucrative first weekend of May. There are no new wide releases other than Spidey, so a boost is practically a given at this point. However, reviews have been mixed, so some people may not be as excited to get back on the horse this time around. Still, It will most definitely dominate the weekend, as ticket prices have risen and 4,000 screens include a ton of 3D and IMAX screens.

2) The Other Woman- 17M Weekend, 51M Total

With good word of mouth, and no new competition for women or comedies, The Other Woman should have a strong second weekend.

3) Captain America 2- 10M Weekend, 240M Total

The Captain faces direct competition from Spidey, but a drop over 50% is still unlikely as fans are still coming back for more of the well-reviewed sequel.

4) Heaven Is For Real- 9M Weekend, 67M Total

5) Rio 2- 8M Weekend, 107M Total

6) Brick Mansions- 4M Weekend, 17M Total

7) Bears- 2.5M Weekend, 15M Total

8) Divergent- 2.5M Weekend, 143M Total

9) The Quiet Ones- 2M Weekend, 7M Total

10) God’s Not Dead- 2M Weekend, 56M Total
